Stake a Claim: Similar to adopt-a-highway in our modern world---you can “claim” or “adopt” a location of your choice along a virtual trail. Engage and interact with other travelers by sharing trail related information: family stories, personal memories, or dedications to loved ones. Your stories will be posted in a virtual historic marker “bubble” in Google Earth on your trail segment.
Virtual Museum: There are artifacts, stories, photographs, heirlooms, and significant amounts of knowledge held by individuals and facilities around the world that may rarely or never be displayed in a formal museum setting. Retain possession of this precious history while utilizing this venue to share it as well. “Preserve and share” history. Be a contributor and visitor to the Virtual Museum.
Upload a Museum Exhibit: Add your knowledge and expertise to the ongoing historical research. We encourage you to upload exhibits to our Virtual Museum. Images, audio and text documents are currently accepted. Exhibits can be anything that will enhance our understanding of the trail experience (historical or modern). Flora, fauna, food, clothing, weapons, medical, etc. are all pertinent. Your exhibit may be tied to your “claimed” location.
